Show Notes:

See those wicked doodles up there? THOSE ARE THE WINNERS OF OUR ALF FANART CONTEST! In that order. Nick will contact you regarding your prizes.

We kick off our last Kaylie and Nick episode with some animation conversation about cheesy 80s and 90s American shows like The Shnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show, She-Ra, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ThunderCats, Rugrats, and more.

We briefly discuss the final episode of ALF, though frankly there isn’t a lot to say about it. ALF says goodbye to the Tanners, tries to meet up with his friends from Melmac, and gets confronted by the Alien Task Force. THE END.

After ALF, we dig into something that generates far more conversation…

A Pony Tale is another confusing, padded mess from David DeCoteau. It’s a series of nature montages that’ve been extended into a full film thanks to a subplot about a girl, her horse Horatio, a financially troubled ranch, an evil land developer, a lucky horseshoe, and some serious head bashing.

Finally, we wrap things up by reliving some of our favorite moments from the past year of Kaylie and Nick podcasts. Thanks for coming along for the ride!

Also, shout out to Shut Up And Dance, who really know how to put together a classy album cover.

One more week to get in your submissions to the ALF Fanart Contest! We’ve already got two incredible contributions from Kim and Angela. Submit yours by March 31st to be entered to win ALF Season 3 or Season 4 on DVD!

After we drop some updates on art and life, we revive our BARF marathon and discuss Superstition (ALF s3 e18) and Hooked on a Feeling (ALF s4 e6).

They’re an odd pair, ranging from somber to morbid to annoying. While the concepts are big, the executions are a bit staid, leaving us underwhelmed.

After ALF, we talk about some more art and life. And hostels. And library beanbags. And DeCoteau. And podcasts. And more.

Next Episode:
In 8 days… OUR FINAL EPISODE!!! We discuss the final episode of ALF and David DeCoteau’s A Pony Tale (a.k.a. the movie formerly known as A Talking Pony!?!).

The first of three final episodes of A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick! It’s been a month, so we catch up on life stuff. Kaylie’s health is getting better and she’s back at the drawing board. Meanwhile, Nick finally sent “The Graphic Novel Formerly Known as The Bible 2” out to publishers and it’s been rejected five times so far!

Then we return to our roots and review David DeCoteau‘s A Magic Puppy a.k.a. The Magic Puppy a.k.a. A Halloween Puppy (it’s unclear which one is the actual title).

Eric Roberts dazzles as Ted, the hapless boyfriend who gets turned into a slobbery dog by his girlfriend’s Halloween-obsessed son and his best friend. Sadly, this flick isn’t legendary like some of DeCoteau’s other Mary Crawford films.

After some other personal conversation and a shoutout to Kim for her new Psychedlic ALF art, we make a massive announcement… the ALF Fanart Contest!

A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick #175 – Vamoosed

A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick

After Kaylie and Nick catch up with each other, they get rattled by two explosive episodes of ALF Season 2.

ALF s2 e20 turns a dull plot into an amazing exercise in character acting. And ALF s2 e21 is a fascinating example of moral ambiguity. We made silly screencaps of s2 e20 and scintillating screencaps of s2 e21.

Then we take a stand and decide to finally end the torture by bringing a close to our David DeCoteau cult film marathon. 1313: Billy the Kid is a terrible, tedious tale that makes us long for the days of wicked stepbrothers and talking cats. Kaylie rustled up some screencaps and Nick rode his screencaps into the sunset.

But wait… there’s more! We’ve got two incredibly important homework questions for you, our awesome listeners:

  1. Now that DeCoteau is dust, what would you like us to talk about next?
  2. We’re going to raffle off ALF Season 2 on DVD soon. How should we decide who gets to go home with this kickass collection?

Leave us your witty topic suggestions and clever ALF raffle ideas in the comments. Thanks… WE LOVE YOU!

Next: The Tanners try to sell the house in ALF s2 e22 and Paul Fusco gets meta in ALF s2 e23. And uhhhhh… other stuff!!!

A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick #173 – Hello… Guys?

A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick

Join Ki-Ki and Ni-Ni as they take you on a wild ride full of talking about things like, ummmmmmmmm, things!

Nick’s favorite episode is ALF s2 e16 and he’s thrilled to tell you why he loves it so much. Kaylie isn’t as keen on it but she dutifully soldiers on, even through the fairly stupid ALF s2 e17 (which is the beginning of a two-part neighborhood watch plot). Kaylie cappyscreened ’em and Nick cappyscreened ’em.

After a Nick tries to stall by making Kaylie by give a comics update, the conversation turns towards David DeCoteau‘s unambitious 1313: Bermuda Triangle. Dave’s recent storytelling innovations are abandoned in what may be the most conventional and unsatisfying 1313 film yet. Kaylie capped it and Nick capped it.

Next: The neighborhood watch two-parter concludes with ALF s2 e18 and Jody returns in ALF s2 e19. And we take a break from DeCoteau to watch Munchie, a 1992 movie about a creepy pizza-loving puppet who befriends a suicidal kid.
