AFI 100 Years 100 Movies Podcast #22 - Diane Doubles Down

AFI Movies Podcast

Four movies reviewed, straight offa the AFI 100 list!

32. The Godfather Part II (1974)

The Diane Keaton takeover pt 1. A good flick. Both Conrad and Nick dig it.

31. Annie Hall (1977)

The Diane Keaton takeover pt 2. Conrad likey. More than he thought he would. Nick hasn't seen it since he was a wee babe.

30. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948)

No Diane Keaton here. Sorry, folks. But Conrad digs this Bogart western. (BTW, is this image actually from the movie? I hope so, because it's awesome. But I'll be damned if that doesn't look like Charlton Heston...)

29. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)

Yep. He sure went to Washington. Annnnnddddd... it wasn't that good. Corruption, naivete, politics. Just watch The Distinguished Gentleman instead.

NEXT: Apocalypse Now, Bonnie & Clyde, Dr. Strangelove, and E.T.

AFI 100 Years 100 Movies Podcast #21 - High Night

AFI Movies Podcast

35. It Happened One Night (1934)

...is refreshingly good yet surprisingly familiar. Conrad likey very much.

34. To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)

...is a boring character study. Conrad no likey.

33. High Noon (1952)

...is a western that happens in real time. Conrad likey. Nick not so much.

NEXT: The Godfather Part II, Annie Hall, and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

AFI 100 Years 100 Movies Podcast #20 - Double Midnight

AFI Movies Podcast

Double-sized episode!

39. Doctor Zhivago (1965)

Conrad's wife makes a cameo appearance in the film.

Too long. Too boring. Too famous.

38. Double Indemnity (1944)

Nick's in love! This film is a taut thriller that stands the test of time. Watch it!

37. The Best Years of Our Lives (1946)

Conrad's the only one that watched this movie about three soldiers returning home to the USA after WWII. It was good.

36. Midnight Cowboy (1969)

Hmmmmmmm. Yeah. This movie's the inspiration for the name of Rizzo the Rat.

NEXT: To Kill a Mockingbird and High Noon. EDIT: We forgot to mention It Happened One Night. That's #35.

AFI 100 Years 100 Movies Podcast #19 - West by Northwest

AFI Movies Podcast

ANNOUNCEMENT: Tuesday's regular weekly series -- the AudioShocker Podcast -- is going bi-monthly (as in once every two weeks). That means the the AFI 100 Movies Podcast now has a new day and schedule -- alternating every other Tuesday with the AudioShocker Podcast!

41. West Side Story (1961)

Conrad and Nick both agree -- despite the goofiness of the music numbers and some weirdness with the casting, this is a well-made movie that deserves its place on the AFI 100 Years 100 Movies List.

40. North by Northwest (1959)

Conrad was a little bit bored by this classic Hitchcock thriller. He's pretty sure that he prefers the unofficial 90s teen remake, If Looks Could Kill.

NEXT: Doctor Zhivago and Double Indemnity.

Fresh for 2012 - About, Contact, and Podcast pages

Over the past few weeks, I've been quietly revamping our About section, expanding it and making everything more comprehensive. While the changes I've made will have little-to-no effect on your regular AudioShocker experience, they might help you if you're searching for an older podcast or other AudioShocker information.

First off, I've given each AudioShocker contributor their own page. So, for example, if you want to find out more about Shawn, you can hit up his about page and find out the AudioShocker shows he's been on, the AudioShocker comics he's drawn, and ways to contact him online.

Speaking of contact, I've reintroduced our Contact page, now with all the info you need to email us, friend us, or call us.

And, finally, I'm proud to debut a the new Podcasts section.

Before, if you wanted to find a past episode, you had to go to the sidebar, click on the show link, and then keep clicking on "Older Posts" until you dug up what you wanted. Time consuming and tedious.

But those days are in the past! Now, you can simply go to the sidebar, locate the series you want, and BAM! All of the episodes are listed out in reverse chronological order. And to make it even easier for you to enjoy our latest podcasts, the most recent episode of any given series will always be playable on its page.

Check 'em out:

Also, as I mentioned on Friday, you can now download all of our Nik Furious produced podcast theme songs.

Coming up this week on our podcasts we'll be featuring a personal look back at my year of gaming on the HyperComboCast #25, the 2011 YOU DON'T SUCK Awards on the AudioShocker Podcast #211, the Ernestcast with Kaylie on A Podcast with Ross and Nick #119, a possible AFI Movies Podcast #19, and the debut of the Super Haters Destruct-O-Cast this Friday. Don't miss an episode :)
