Emotional ramifications plague Rhodey. Even worse, Jim lands back in the present without his suit! The War Machine armor is lost in time!!!

Transcript :: X-Men: The Times and Life of Lucas Bishop #1 :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: Most of all, this tale begs the question: why wasn't it told already? The developments here are particularly relevant to Messiah CompleX. Still, this issue is great regardless of its timing. Larry Stroman's art is excellent, especially his fairy tale X-Men... Hey, look at my "M"!! I've been let down with how Bishop has been used in the X-Men titles for the past year, but this issue feels like a first step towards redemption!

Transcript :: War Machine #12-14 (Vol 1, 1995) :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: Oh man! Where should I start? Rhodey takes a trip home for the holidays, and he invites his GF, Rae LaCoste. Problem is, his parents are racists! In typical hero fashion, Rhodey is soon distracted by a bigger issue: The Rush Club, a crew of deadly, heavily armored playboys out for blood! Rhodey crosses the globe throughout this fun and unexpected read. But what happens next makes this ambitious tale tame by comparison...

Transcript :: New Avengers #49 :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: Enchanted crowbar!! It's back! Gotta love Wrecker's weapon of choice!!! In this tale, the crowbar gets manhandled by none other than Luke Cage. But Cage isn't very heroic. In fact, the villains in this story are far more honorable. At least the Baby Cage plot finally gets resolved! Otherwise, not too much goes down. On page 19, there's a sweet scene that used to play out in my head while waiting for the bus, but that's about it! [NOTE: Huge thanks to Justique for her help with this 3 Panel Review!!!]

Transcript :: It's a Bird... (graphic novel) :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: I heard this book was good, but I was afraid to like it, which is odd considering Seagle is the writer of my favorite single comic book issue. Despite my neurosis, the story ended up being excellent. My only complaint is that Seagle's characters often border on being caricatures instead. By studying the ideas behind Kal-El from a skeptic's mindset, this OGN easily earns the cost on the cover for its rigorous character study.

Transcript :: War Machine #7-11 (Vol 1, 1994-1995) :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: These few issues round out the rest of the original creative team's work on this series. The results are mixed as they provide both good and bad. While #7 and #11 are the best of the whole series, we get the dreadful #8-10 crossover issues that sour the integrity of this decent title. Still, WM's leadership of Worldwatch and his dilemma with killing grow into thought provoking plot points. Good stuff outshines the bad by the end.

Transcript :: War Machine #5-6 (Vol 1, 1994) :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: Deathtoll is the epitome of a cheesy 90s comic book bad guy. War Machine tussles with this antagonist for two issues following his debut arc. Despite all the time spent fleshing out the bad guy, the story remains solid. Deathtoll is used to explore War Machine's unease with killing. Deathtoll glasses! While this story isn't as good as the last arc, strong character development advances Rhodey into the future with quality.

Transcript :: War Machine #2-4 (Vol 1, 1994) :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: These three issues wrap up the initial storyline in War Machine's 1st ongoing book. And the concepts here are much more heady than I expected. Rhodey challenges an African dictator for abducting a famous diplomat. The violent results lead War Machine to question his morality and his limits. Both art and scripting pay off in this first arc, and it's obvious that the quality of this tale inspired Rhodey's brand new series coming out soon.

Transcript :: Avengers: The Initiative #19 :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: The Secret Invasion story in Avengers: The Initiative has been MY big crossover blockbuster event of 2008, and it all comes to a head in this issue. 3-D Man and Crusader were the stars of my event season and now I'm pumped for the Skrull Kill Krew mini. Check my 3-D Man eyes! "I... see!" Page nine contains my favorite superhero moment of 2008. It's just... perfect! And the end is a chilling surprise. It's a great twist for fans!

Transcript :: War Machine #1 (Vol 1, 1994) :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: I'm catching up on the past exploits of War Machine to prepare for his new series. Plus, I've been playing a lot of Marvel vs. Capcom lately. Check it out!!! I'm all silver and black like War Machine! Anyway, I went out and bought all 25 issues of his 1994 series. And War Machine #1 is great!!! This comic has the best foil embossed cover ever! The story manages to use flashback to its advantage and the art is solid. It's a strong first issue!

Transcript :: Vixen: Return of the Lion #3 :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: At first, I wasn't going to write about this issue. But it left such a good taste in my mouth that I feel compelled to talk about how solid it is. Cafu's art is gorgeous, showing tremendous growth. G Willow Wilson is good at guiding the story away from trite or boring plot twists. I gifted this comic to the lady working the counter at Mancini's Bread when she told me she was into DC's heroes. I just had to share this book!

Transcript :: Terra #3 :: A 3 Panel Review by Nick Marino :: Here's what you need to know: this comic is so awesome that it inspired me to start these 3 Panel Reviews. Now that's quality! Look at me! My eyes are purple like Terra!!! Anyway, the story is sweet as hell. And the art on page 10 had my mouth wide open in total awe! But it's so sad that this series is almost done!! With one issue left to go, how am I supposed to get my Amanda Conner art fix when this is over!?!
