Show Notes:

See those wicked doodles up there? THOSE ARE THE WINNERS OF OUR ALF FANART CONTEST! In that order. Nick will contact you regarding your prizes.

We kick off our last Kaylie and Nick episode with some animation conversation about cheesy 80s and 90s American shows like The Shnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show, She-Ra, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ThunderCats, Rugrats, and more.

We briefly discuss the final episode of ALF, though frankly there isn't a lot to say about it. ALF says goodbye to the Tanners, tries to meet up with his friends from Melmac, and gets confronted by the Alien Task Force. THE END.

After ALF, we dig into something that generates far more conversation...

A Pony Tale is another confusing, padded mess from David DeCoteau. It's a series of nature montages that've been extended into a full film thanks to a subplot about a girl, her horse Horatio, a financially troubled ranch, an evil land developer, a lucky horseshoe, and some serious head bashing.

Finally, we wrap things up by reliving some of our favorite moments from the past year of Kaylie and Nick podcasts. Thanks for coming along for the ride!

Also, shout out to Shut Up And Dance, who really know how to put together a classy album cover.

kind of figured you would you go for the alf kissing willie pic as the first place winner, but it's okay because it is kind of cute and I know you go for the alf/willie slash. I have all the the season Alf on DVD anyway, I did this just for fun.

yeah, this is the reason why I usually skip the final episode because it such a dower. what I have heard from other alf fans there was going a be a another season that was gonna be similar to the movie, the tanners take a season off and mostly focus on the military base alf was at and at the end of the season either he get reunited with the tanners or skip and rhonda come to rescue him again, but this time they succeed. I don't if that would such a hit compared the other seasons.

i think the main reason alf got cancelled because NBC was changing the way it was doing it's programing, and wanted to own the rights to alf, but paul was not comfortable with that, so they cancelled the show at the drop of a hat. but later NBC made a deal with paul to either make another season or a movie to conclude the series, since another season never happened, they made the movie instead, so that how the movie came to be.

oh, and, I made a sort of good bye gift for you guys, I know it not part of the contest, but I felt like doing it anyways for bringing back some good moments with alf.

great final episode, you two!! it's been a good run. i laughed when you were doing the role-playing part, and Kaylie's Skeletor impression was pretty good.

@Kim: I LOVE THE VIDEO!!! Thanks so much for sharing it :D

And thanks so much for listening. You made it extra fun to BARF.

That sounds like a pretty plausible scenario for ALF. I listened to an audiobook about the Must See TV era of NBC, which didn't cover much ALF but did cover that time period in the network's history and I remember their management changes brought a different mentality to programming in the early 90s.

@Ross: Thanks for being the catalyst that made this podcast series with Kaylie and I possible!

glad that you liked the video! you are welcome! :)
yeah, many of the possible things that could have cancelled ALF, which is a shame really, if the network have not changed their management, ALF might have gone on for a few more seasons.
