A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick #172 - I Dropped My Dolphin

A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick

McDougal and Marino get weird as they discuss stuff.

Stuff like Justique's awesome cupcakes.

And stuff like ALF s2 e14 and ALF s2 e15, part of the now-infamously non-non-non-famous BARF marathon. Kaylie made some screen encapsulations and Nick made some screen encapsulations.

And just when you thought stuff couldn't get an weirder... BAM! We go DeCoteau style on your ass and discuss the oddly cinematic 1313: Bigfoot Island. A young woman craves revenge after being wronged by a crew of jerkfaces, so she calls upon the spirit of the forest to do her bidding. Kaylie capped it and Nick capped it.

Next: Nick's favorite episode, ALF s2 e16, and the beginning of an epic two-parter with ALF s2 e17. Plus, 1313: Bermuda Triangle!

    An Anime/Cartoon Podcast announced!!

I knew if Justique would do a podcast it would be Anime related.
I am literally to excited for this.

@Nick do you have the setup for this usually if Justique is on you guys
    share the mic.

@Marques: I'm pretty lo-fi as far as podcasters go. Justique and I always share the mic because it's so much easier that way! We just use the built-in mic on my laptop, which I think gets a decent sound. I don't have any fancy gear or special noise cancelling anything hahaha. I've bought some of that stuff in the past and found it to be overrated and less flexible than built-ins and inexpensive USB mics. I think that answered your question!

I'm super stoked for the animation podcast. I'm working on a logo right now!

I would be okay with the subscription idea as long as it i not to expensive and you get a little something in return.
these two episode of ALF were okay for me, I liked jake in the series, he seems like a bad kid, but he is actually a nice guy. ALF's hissing in that episode always makes me laugh, but probably would scare me a bit of a heard it personally. and I agree the other episode was kind of boring.
this DeCoteau film would make your typical bad sci-fi channel movie, all he had to do was put a lot of gore in it and da-da!

you know i just wondered out loud... what does the 1313 stand for?
have you guys mentioned it before? or looked into it?

    STRAWBERRY VEGAN COOOOPCWAAAAAAKES!

hehe i don't think kaylie is boring at all.
i don't know what else to say, i mean between her art/comics and the podcast, she comes off as a really interesting and funny person.

i love the idea of nick podcasting from within a closet. XD

it's probably just my twisted mind, but almost the ENTIRE cupcake incident sounded very sexual and or voyeuristic in a playful sort of way. it was kinda' dirty/cute? ...yah.

    ANIMATION PODCAST! YES! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!
expect me to make many very long comments.

I think the alf in clothing thing has some relation to the alf animated series'. he used to wear a red and yellow hawaiian type shirt in that all the time. i kind of liked that old series. especially the opening theme song. i was a kid. heh.

i love saying yah instead of yeah, i imagine it sounds kinda' like Augustus Gloop from the original charlie and the chocolate factory or the little german kid from the simpsons Üter Zörker.

on a final note, eric roberts is going to be in human centipede 3?! ewww
    D:

@Kim: I like the idea of doing something extra! I could definitely cook up something special for subscribers ;)

Yeah, this DeCoteau flick definitely had bad Syfy movie written all over it. Maybe just needed some bad aliens and like you said a few gory deaths.

Paul Fusco is so good at making ALF do weird noises, like the hiss and the ack ack ack and so on. Cracks me up with that stuff.

@Smars: I've been curious about 1313. I don't remember it being addressed anywhere, at least nothing I've seen. 13's like an unlucky sometimes supernatural number and I assumed that was all there is to it!

I'm glad you enjoyed voyeuring in during the sexy cupcake eating scene. hahahahahaha

    Kaylie = NOT boring

we just recorded the animation podcast last night. it's pretty fun.

My guess is that ALF in clothes has to do with the network and licensors wanting to sell merch but being like "well he can't be naked!!!" And so they gave him easy clothing that required the least amount of effort and still made him look fun.

They must have known from early on that he'd be wearing clothes because the cartoon debuted in the summer of 88, two years after the sitcom began. Which means that they starting working on it almost right away, I would think.

I love saying yah, but in these captions it's "ya" instead of "yeah" -- i feel like removing the h just fucks everything up.

I was in a fast food joint last night and a commercial for the CSI season premiere came on and it was like... "GUEST STARRING ERIC ROBERTS!!!!!!" I chortled to myself, picturing him from Hansel and Gretel. How in the hell does the guy go from that movie to being the featured celebrity guest star on a huge season premiere? Crazy. He's so versatile.
