Conrad and Nick are trying to put their long-standing misunderstanding to rest — did the original AFI 100 Years 100 Movies list come out in 1997 and the 10th anniversary revision in 2007? Or was it 1997 and 2008? Or 1998 and 2007? We’re confused.
43. King Kong (1933)
Conrad thinks King Kong is most notable for the sets, stop-motion animation, and the rear projection used in the backgrounds.
42. Rear Window (1954)
Conrad and Nick were both pretty impressed with the way the apartment courtyard was used in the film. Nick appreciated the limited setting, but feels like the format has been improved upon greatly since the 50s. Conrad found the film’s plot too predictable and he wasn’t satisfied by the film’s oddly perfect ending. Overall, a decent film, not great for us.
