i'm no fighting game aficionado, i've mostly only played Capcom stuff, but i think Street Fighter 3 Third Strike has the best batch of character designs, they're all really strong. Darkstalkers comes up behind that for me, and i like a lot of the Guilty Gear characters. i think my favorites are Elena, Necro, Shadowloo/blue lightning bolts Cammy, Felicia, Rikuo, Hsien-Ko, Anakaris, Chun-Li's Alpha series outfit, and Millia Rage, Baiken, and Potemkin from Guilty Gear. Guilty Gear also has some great boss designs, like Leopaldon and Gig. i also really like Juri from Street Fighter 4 even though i've never played her. i used to really love Vega, he was my guy in the old SF2, but i've kind of cooled on him over the years.

@Ross: i agree about Juri -- she has a fantastic costume. did you see the cosplayer Juri when we were in Toronto in 2010? CRAZY GOOD! i also agree about Alpha Chunners and Anakaris. i think i'm gonna get the "Femme Fatales" costume pack for UMvC3 just because it's got mohawk Storm and Alpha Chunners. and since it's your voice, i'll officially retire the "YES!" at your request.

it's too late the yes is already retired. actually, reretired because i retired it awhile ago but brought it back recently.
