Project Basement - Scarlet Phoenix by Ross Campbell

Project Basement hexes you with some serious hate!!! It's...

Scarlet Phoenix by Ross Campbell

Scarlet Phoenix by Ross Campbell

Ross gives us some PB v2 style hate with an amalgam of Marvel Comics characters -- the Scarlet Witch and the Phoenix Force. I thought I had a hate-filled rant from Ross, but I couldn't find one in my email. So, in its place (unless Ross wants to send me one...), here's what Ross DID say in his emails about this sketch:

11/21/10 - i decided who i’m going to do for Project Basement! Scarlet Witch possessed by the Phoenix Force! i couldn't decide which one i hated more so Kaylie suggested combining them. i like Jean herself just fine, i just hate the Phoenix Force cosmic entity thing. XD

EDIT: Here's Ross' rant in the comments. And it's good rant so enjoy!!!!

NEXT: Hate rears it's hideous head one more time as PB brings you Christian Bale Batman by... ME!

Time Log #22

FutureShawn continues her flashback campfire story (a surprisingly vivid flashback considering she wasn't there) about PastPete's (soon to be "FuturePete's") adventure in the land of the (super-intelligent, ultra-violent) unicorns. And by "adventure" I mean PastPete just snapped a unicorn's neck (after it ripped off his arm, that is).

Time Log #23
New to Time Log? Start from the beginning with #0!

After last week's strip, I talked a bit about the past. Today I'd like to talk a bit about the future.

Right now, we're putting the final touches on a print collection of ACT I of the Time Log webcomic (soon to be known as "The New Time Log, 1 of 3" or something like that). Here's a sneak peek at the in-progress cover to said print collection:

It's by a friend of Shawn's named Ashkraft (did I spell that right?), who's been trying to break into comics since the early 90s (if I'm not mistaken). While his style has that era written all over it, I'm very fond of the look and feel of the cover. Does anyone know what classic Marvel comic book we're homaging with this cover design?

As for the webcomic's future, Pete and I are finally hammering out the rest of the plot. It looks like Time Log will run about a year all in total (give or take a few weeks, that is). My guess is it'll end up on the short side of a year... but I could be wrong!

So what plot developments am I excited for next? Well, there's a quick detour to Europe that should cause some interesting reactions from commenters... and there's also a lot of reconstruction in order considering how bad Pete's actions messed up the timestream. Plus, we've got a throwback homage to Krang and JUST MAYBE another visit to the land of the unicorns!

A Podcast with Ross and Nick #84 - Storm Runner

A Podcast with Ross and Nick

EXTREME #16! X-Men ( Season 2, Episode 16 ): STORM EPISODE! Coffee-colored Africans, Africans in the Amazon, more Morph, and Ross hates the Shadow King but Mjnari can outrun him! See our EXTREME #16 screen caps!

James Hong Marathong begins!!! But Missing in Action is... missing in action. So we only discuss the Blade Runner theatrical cut. "Sushi. That's what my ex-wife used to call me. Raw fish." Voice over vs. the Director Cut.

NEXT: X-Men ( Season 2, Episode 17 ) and the James Hong Marathong continues with Missing in Action, Big Trouble in Little China, and Revenge of the Nerds 2.

Sequential Underground #7 - Storytellers

Sequential Underground

The podcast by indie comics creators for indie comics creators rambles on.

OH NO! NO DAN! But the show goes on with Shawn and Nick as they trade stories -- Shawn parted ways with his limited series project, Nick's comics are so good he can sell them to the blind, Shawn shares some comics-related (and non-related!) stories, Shawn channeled Frazetta in his latest Explorers of the Unknown story, Nick is inviting guest writers to take a crack at his Super Haters webcomic, Shawn read M.L.Walker's Hero Corp and loved it, Nick read Dan's Space Base One and loved it, and Shawn tells his driving and drawing Space Base One cover art adventure!!! DON'T DRAW AND DRIVE! It's the law.

Shawn and Nick follow the convo with some promotion of their ongoing and upcoming projects, and Shawn closes out the show with an announcement of the 2011 Sequential Underground comics anthology!!!

Project Basement - Plastic Man by Byron Winton

And Project Basement said, "LET THERE BE HATE!" with:

Plastic Man by Byron Winton

Plastic Man by Byron Winton

Byron kicked off PB v2 with his Captain America sketch, and now he's back to spread some hateraise (hatin' + mayonnaise) on Eel O'Brian:

Got another one for you. Plastic Man... I hate the fucker. Probably because of the Saturday morning cartoon I watched as a kid. Why does a character that can stretch have to be so damn humorous? I’d like to see a grim variation... one that's devious and has problems keeping his shit together. And not as in my Lolcats crapping rendition either.

NEXT: Hate unites heroes as Ross Campbell brings us the Scarlet Phoenix!

Time Log #21

Man, I just can't get enough of this unicorn fight scene!!! It's so exhilarating.

Anyway, here's some behind-the-scenes dirt on Time Log: Pete and I originally scripted Time Log as a three-issue mini series. We condensed that story into one issue and made it the Time Log one-shot. Then we plotted out the webcomic you're reading now as two more comic book issues.

And it's been a pretty big struggle to adapt that plot (albeit a VERY different plot from the one you're reading now) to this hyper-condensed webcomic format. What would have been about 50 vertical pages has turned into the same amount of two-thirds size horizontal comic strips. Not a simple feat.

While we know our ending and a few story beats along the way, advancing the characters from our thrilling unicorn flashback to our unbelievable *CONFIDENTIAL CENSORED PLOT INFORMATION* is gonna be tricky!!!

So this is probably your last chance as our valued readers to have your voice heard... is there anything YOU want to see happen in the Time Log webcomic?

The James Hong Marathong Master List!

It's epic!!! It's intense!!! It's a true test of media endurance!!!

It's EXTREME!!!*

But that's a different marathon challenge. This blog post is about the James Hong Marathong, a slightly less endurance-based (but potentially more enjoyable!) movie extravaganza.

Over the next ten episodes of A Podcast with Ross and Nick, we'll be reviewing two James Hong movies per show (along with our weekly X-Men animated episode).

And you can join in on the fun by playing along at home by using the following Marathong master list:

We missed a week, so we make up for it with an entire EXTREME episode!!!*

EXTREME #14-15! X-Men ( Season 2, Episode 14 ) and X-Men ( Season 2, Episode 15 ): Morph is back!! HOLY URMPHFJGHJJK!!!! How long has Morph been a priest? Morph sucks and Nick likes it. **Cuniu! Tommy!

*Also, this episode is going up a little late -- sorry about that!!! But keep an ear out for a remastered A Podcast with Ross and Nick theme song, as well as an *ahem* updated 2011 end theme.

Time Log Christmas Card

Here's the awesome Christmas card that Pete received from his brother Jack:

Kickass, right? Jack really nailed Time Log's visual style!
