Here's one of my all-time favorite monologues, taken from Chris Cooper as John Laroche in Adaptation:
I'll tell you a story. I once fell deeply, profoundly in love with tropical fish. I had sixty goddamn fish tanks in my house. I'd skin-dive to find just the right ones. Anisotremus virginicus, Holacanthus ciliaris, Chaetodon capistratus. You name it. Then one day I say, fuck fish. I renounce fish. I vow to never set foot in the ocean again, that's how much fuck fish. That was seventeen years ago and I have never since stuck so much as a toe into that ocean. And I love the ocean!
I'm trying something new out here. Thought this might be fun! Any suggestions for future movies / quotes?
Is it possible to have a closing big gray quotation mark after the quote? Kind of throws me off to see an opening one but not a closing one.
Pete, if you'd care to edit the style sheet - then yes. That is the default pull/blockquote style for k2 (our base theme).
Also, if we did so, we'd probably have to sacrifice another 70px on the right hand side to accommodate it.
Well, coming from my ragingly academic background, putting quote marks on a blockquote is redundant, so I'd axe the open-quote graphic on the left margin. But, then, maybe most folks on the internet don't have pre-established expectations (generally MLA-derived) for how their longer-than-two-lines quotes should be formatted, so need to be told, via said graphic, what is up?
