Welcome back to Project Basement. This week we have a fun sketch from the AudioShocker's first and most prolific podcast contributor (as well as our resident anime expert)...
Misty Knight by Justique Woolridge
When I came up with the idea for Project Basement (which was named, if I'm not mistaken, by next week's contributor), I knew that I wanted to feature work from all kinds of artists. And though Justique isn't often an illustrator -- she's more of a painter when it comes to visual arts -- her sketch does exactly what I was hoping all the PB pieces would do: it captures a personal essence that exposes what the character means to the artist.
If I may be so bold as to interpret what I feel this personal essence to be: in Justique's Misty sketch I see elegance, poise, strength, and a touch of the unusual. Misty is often distinguished by her large afro, and Justique pulls no punches in that regard. But what follows is a hybrid character study / fashion design sketch that shows Misty as a fashionista, cyborg, and overall classy lady.
Now be back next Sunday to see Sleepwalker by Ross Campbell.

Justique's Misty is STACKED. oh baby. i like her giant pointy hand.
it's a flame, not a hand!!! her cyborg arm just happens to be shooting out a five-pointed flame.
oh, shit! that makes it even cooler. i don't think i knew Misty had a cyborg arm.
AudioShocker Shoutouts!

Cyborg arms = awesome.
