Failed recording strikes again! UGH. And since it didn't record, all we're talking about is... Night Thrasher!!! Nick offers up his Henry Poole Is Here "win a sketch" challenge. Ross discusses guro manga art. ERF. And Justique compares guro mangaka to Chris Brown.
Monthly Archive for June, 2010
Neal read Far North, the furry convention was in Pittsburgh and Nick went hunting, Afro Samurai blah, Neal is completely confused about how Justique gets her hair done, Neal rambles on about NYC nightlife, Justique saw Repo! The Genetic Opera, and does Avatar: The Last Airbender rip off Captain America?
A little behind-the-scenes taste! From artist Shawn Atkins, for the upcoming Time Log webcomic (launching here on August 5th, 2010).
It's time again for another stunning Project Basement installment! This week, we've got one of PB's most distinguished contributors AND a member of the AudioShocker family, writer/artist extraordinaire, Ross Campbell.
Sleepwalker by Ross Campbell
Ross was one of the first people I approached about Project Basement (and by approached, I mean I bounced the original incoherent ideas for PB off of him at some point during one of our recording sessions). My inspiration for the entire project was partial born out of his Storm sketch he did in response to being badgered by Neal to draw his own version of the character for my weekly Hyper Combo Wallpaper feature.
But as the time drew near for Ross to actually draw something for the Basement, I knew what he was going to do: Sleepwalker. The guy's frickin' cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs when it comes to the drowsy Rick Sheridan and his alien friend from the Mindscape dimension. Don't believe me? Check out the recent Back Issue Binge #3, where Ross displays his passion.
Two more things: 1. Not sure if I said this before... all the sketches from Project Basement will eventually be collected into an awesome zine/ashcan sometime around late August, and a splendorous colored version of this Sleepwalker sketch will be seen on the front or back cover; and 2. Make sure to visit Shadoweyes.net and buy Ross' new superhero graphic novel when it hits stores within the next few weeks!
Be back on Sunday, July 4th for a very patriotic Pete Borrebach and his Captain America sketch!

That's all, boys and girls! I'm retiring Hyper Combo Wallpaper. Don't be surprised if it comes out of retirement for the occasional special appearance... but consider the feature non-weekly and non-regular to the max.
So... DON'T be back next Friday for a brand spankin' new Hyper Combo Wallpaper!!!
EDIT: Okay, so I thought Hyper Combo Wallpaper was going to die an official death... but there's been a slight change. It's not ready to die just yet. In fact, it's going to back next week and stronger than ever as we dive deep into some Endless Widescreen MvC3 action!!!

The Amazon Kindle DX ebook reader is an awesome medium for reading comics, but formatting your comics to look good on the device and sell through the Kindle store takes a bit of work.
In this podcast tutorial, Nick Marino walks you through the process of sizing, saving, converting, and posting your original comics content so it can be sold through the Amazon Kindle store.
