Wet Moon 5 and G-Man: Cape Crisis #1 OUT TODAY!!!

HOLY @#$%! Today's a big day at the comic shop for the AudioShocker!!!

First off, Ross Campbell's Wet Moon 5 is in stores today. If you've been listening to A Podcast with Ross and Nick, then you already know that Ross has been extremely tight-lipped about the details of WM5. That just means it's gotta be juicy! Ross and Nick will be talking about WM5 and dropping behind-the-scenes info starting with A Podcast with Ross and Nick #12 on August 26th, so that gives you two whole weeks to read the book before you listen.

Also, Chris Giarrusso's G-Man: Cape Crisis #1 hits racks today. This awesome all-ages comic book was the topic of our most recent conversation with Chris in AudioShocker Podcast #91. This is the first issue of a five-part mini, so I suggest you get in on the ground floor today and snag a copy.

Man, this day could only be bigger for us if Jay Faerber had another issue of Dynamo 5 out today! Too bad D5 #23 came out last week... (and, by the way, it was an EXCELLENT issue).

EDIT: Wet Moon 5... or not.

EDIT 2: Wet Moon 5 out on August 19th!

A Podcast with Ross and Nick #10 - Massive Geek Out

Ross Campbell tells Nick Marino all about meeting Leonard Nimoy at SDCC because his friend was dressed up as a character from The Abandoned, which somehow leads to a massive LeVar Burton geek out (which reasonably leads to a somewhat massive Star Trek geek out). Talk returns to Comic-Con, specifically Shadoweyes and the Oni panel, which somehow leads to Ross forcing Nick to justify his affinity for Aquaman... which leads Nick into a massive Aquaman geek out. The guys talk Peter David and the hook hand, Will Pfeifer and the magical water hand, and science vs. magic stories. All this somehow leads to a massive WALL*E hate fest (you thought we were gonna say geek out, didn't you?), which spins into a geek out over realistic conflicts in superhero comics (and a final bit of cosplay).

AudioShocker Podcast #92 - Dirty Perverty Robots

The gang is back! That just means we don't have an interview lined up... but like we said, the gang is back! Movies like Parasite Dolls and The Hurt Locker get things rolling. TV shows like So You Think You Can Dance, Surface, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men keep it moving. A bunch of nonsense leads into a description of the Iron Man 2 footage from Comic-Con International. Neal teaches people Audacity, while Nick spreads rumors about the quality of District 9. Justique flips out on the quality of Crash and Paul Mooney polarizes the gang. Neal likes how Slacker Personal Radio plays Eddie Griffin stand-up, but Neal falls flat with the gay fish joke and proceeds to talk about New Era Street Fighter hadoken hats, sending Nick on an extended Google search to find the spelling for shoryuken. Excellence!

Culturology 037 - The Best Kind of Culturology (The Quarter-Assed Kind)

Despite their garnering better-than-anticipated reviews from the reviewers-that-matter-to-me, I failed to run out and see either G.I. Joe or A Perfect Getaway, extending my movie-less streak all the way back to mid-May and Star Trek. Though there is some shit on the horizon worth looking forward to. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and admit that I'm gonna go see Gamer when it comes out, for two reasons: a) it's made by the dudes that did Crank and Crank 2, and it's distopic sci-fi in the style of Running Man, such thing for which I am always a sucker.

But this leaves me still more-or-less treading water for the month of August, unless I break down and write more about books (anyone wanna hear about my new theory, based on Don Delillo's White Noise and Anne Tyler's The Accidental Tourist, that the '80s totally sucked?). And a series of ill-timed internet-based distractions today has me posting this hours later than I was expecting (setting a record this Monday for being on the internet for so damn long)...

Plus, it turns out that the thing I do for my actual job, it turns out I did a major component of that thing in a way that means I have to do it all over again, so I've really gotta go and take care of it, while I'm still on the internet...

I promise! I'll get out of this summer funk soon... (meanwhile, Nick, I'll try to refer back to last week's comments section to re-address your dislike of Push)

Meanwhile, guess what? You get another week to read Michael Chabon's Gentlemen of the Road for the Summer of Booklove Book Club!!!

Ryu vs. E Honda Lo-Fi SFII Hyper Combo Wallpaper!

Ryu and E Honda get old school

Ryu and E Honda are ready to throwdown old school!

DOWNLOAD WALLPAPER :: 1280 X 1024 :: 1440 X 900 :: 1600 X 1200

Though Edmond Honda never made it into any of the Marvel vs. Capcom games, Ryu had his dirty little fingers all over them. But that's not what we're here to discuss today anyway. Above you will find a little old school fighting screen shot from the seminal Street Fighter II, complete in an old school arcade screen frame.

The hi-res source for this lo-fi classic was found in THE ARCADE COLLECTION of JESPER CARLSSON. It took me a bit of Photoshop magic, but I fixed the pic and made it into this delicious wallpaper. Be back next Monday for a Captain Commando Hyper Combo Wallpaper!

Beatcast #36 - The Golden Times by Nik Furious

The Golden Times, an original acoustic rock song showcasing Nik Furious at his most emo. This is the seventh part of a ten part Beatcast series called Nik Furious: Then and Now. This Then recording features none other than the AudioShocker's Pete playing piano and soloing quite nicely.

New Videos: Mac Miller - Got A Clue

Got this via Facebook. I don't know anything about Mac Miller - but he reps Pittsburgh, so we gotta put him on. Apparently I went to school with Rex Arrow who directed the joint, and now I am passing it on to you.

I dig the beat, and while the flow isn't nuclear heatrock or anything, I challenge you to be sad afterward. In any case, the video is cool and the keen eye will notice some key Pittsburgh architecture. Oh, and the girl? That's Nomi Leasure (go go facebook stalking powers)
